These roles will average around 15hrs. per week, though varies depending on the time in the quarter. These positions are unpaid, but they offer a ton of benefits:
- The biggest one? Free workshops! If you’re one of our industrious interns, you can take whatever workshops you’d like (as long as there’s room) for only the supply fee. Trust us, it’s pretty awesome.
- Connect with sustainability leaders and artisans in the Atlanta community, building a network of some of the best humans you’ll ever meet who just so happen to be at the heart of Atlanta’s future as a resilient city.
- It looks pretty dang snazzy on a resume. The green sector is growing rapidly in Atlanta, and as a start-up nonprofit, there’s lots of room to grow with us. Plus our connection to Georgia Organics and the local food movement makes us (and you) pretty legit.
- You’ll play a role in making Atlanta more awesome. Resilience is becoming the new measurement of the success of an individual, community or city – and you will be on the front lines of getting people the information they need.
Good communication with our amazing participants is the glue that holds The Homestead Atlanta together – and we like to get a little kooky with it. Saving the world one workshop at a time should be fun, so we aim to be approachable – even a little sassy - in our style. This would be a fantastic position for someone looking to build his or her online writing portfolio as well as have a sanctioned outlet for your quick wit.
Tasks: Manage our social media presence, compose workshop descriptions, help maintain our weekly e-newsletter send, provide consistent and relevant blog content, manage online event entry volunteers
Preferred Experience: Squarespace (or other basic web design/blog platform), Mailchimp (or other email management program), Social Media management. Please send along a writing sample that demonstrates a tone similar to The Homestead’s – or whip up some mock email copy to show us what you’ve got!
Our talented instructors and workshop offerings are the backbone of The Homestead Atlanta, and we’re looking for someone to help us find the best Atlanta has to offer. This position gives you the opportunity to network extensively with individuals, organizations and locations across the city to help us create a great curriculum and spread the word about our organization.
Are you an extrovert who loves talking with people, organizing events, dealing with things on the fly and learning new things? Do you have a lot of weekend flexibility? Awesome. Come be our Event Coordinator.
This position is the boots on the ground presence as workshops, functioning as the liaison between the instructor, attendees and space and generally making sure everything goes smoothly. That also means you get the most free learnin' of anybody! Plus, help coordinate and execute periodic fundraisers and special events.
Tasks: Help maintain a wide variety of workshops, coordinate class volunteers for set up and breakdown, provide a great experience for attendees and troubleshoot any issues, determine and account for workshop supply needs, monitor registration information in content management system.
Preferred Experience: Crazy attention to detail, experience utilizing volunteers, good interpersonal skills, Squarespace (or other basic web design/programming), familiarity with content management systems, event/fundraiser planning experience, relative weekend flexibility, reliable transportation, punctual
