This class takes you beyond the basics and delves into the more complex nuances and challenges of houseplant stewardship.
Some of the topics we’ll discuss include:
- Troubleshooting problems – identifying symptoms of pests, diseases, and under-watering vs. over-watering
- Fertilizer – how much, what kind, and how often
- Watering & humidity management – tips for individualizing your watering routine
Instructor: Garden*Hood nursery and landscape crew member Adam Busshaus. Adam grew up in Florida where many of the plants we Atlantans know as petite houseplants grew to enormous proportions in the great outdoors. Adam’s experience with the ways in which these tropical plants live and thrive in their natural habitat gives him special insider knowledge about how to successfully grow them indoors here in Zone 7b.
Details: The class will be held outdoors here at the nursery. Please dress for the weather (sunscreen, hats, and sun glasses are strongly recommended), and feel free to bring snacks and beverages. In the event of dangerous or exceptionally inclement weather, the class will be rescheduled. We’ll call you the morning of the event to alert you of scheduling changes.
Cost: The cost of the class is $15 for the general public and $10 for members of Homestead Atlanta (please bring proof of membership - accessible on "For Members" page - on the day of the class).
