Leather is one of the oldest craft materials used by man, and to this day one of the most durable and stylish. Come discover some of the basic techniques of leathercraft and get to know the different types of leathers available and their varying qualities – all while creating a perfect holiday gift for yourself or your loved ones.
You’ll learn to cut, bevel, edge-finish, punch, rivet and lace leather to create a fun, functional sleeve to transform a mason jar into a portable mug. Now you can enjoy coffee out of an affordable, reusable, eco-friendly option - without burning your hand!
We’ll also discuss ways to accent your mug with burned designs and may even try our hand at it if time permits!
About the Instructor:
Kimberly Coburn is a proud ginger, a jack of all trades and master of none, has more ongoing craft endeavors than any one person should, treats her kitchen like an episode of Mr. Wizard, and does her best to help facilitate Atlantans learning the skills they need to be more self-reliant by wrangling the Homestead Atlanta’s curriculum. She’s one of the most curious people you’ll ever meet and feels a little awkward writing descriptions of herself.
