Aquaponics is a soil-less gardening system that relies on natural fertilizer and recirculating water to grow vegetables in a fraction of the time required with growing in soil.
This class will go over the basic components of an aquaponics setup and how to go about the design/build process for making your own system. You will be able to see an aquaponics system in action at the instructor’s Southwest Atlanta home.
You are encouraged to bring photos and/or sketches of a place you would like to build a system. We can discuss how to plan out a system that will work for you and options for acquiring the materials.
About the Instructor:
Chris Willingham loves applying science to improve gardening and cooking. He has worked on various aquaponics projects in Vermont and Georgia. His research on this process became the primary focus of his work while studying Sustainable Design at Yestermorrow Design/Build School in Waitsfield, VT.
