Come get the blues in the best of ways with The Homestead Atlanta and LUNASOUL. We'll be joining sustainable fashion designer Paige in her studio for an afternoon of learning and hands-on creation. You'll leave with a gorgeous scarf/wrap of your own design to show off or give as a stunning gift.
We'll explore the process by which a leafy green plant becomes dye that, through oxidation, transforms fabric from green to blue before your eyes. Because it doesn’t require chemicals to be lightfast, indigo is a great place to begin discovering the art of natural dyes.
Learn about the chemistry of natural dyes, the history of indigo and try your hand at several resist and shibori techniques. Design and create your own masterpiece to wear for years to come. Plus, if you have a small amount of natural fiber fabrics or yarn at home you’d like to dye, please bring them along!
