In this three-hour course, Jay Wiggins of MASS Collective introduces the fundamental woodworking tool: the flat back chisel. Students will learn to sharpen, tune, and use the tools in order to produce consistent and quality craftsmanship. This course is a prerequisite for the furniture building course, as well as the courses on mortise and tenon joinery and hand cut dovetails.
It is recommended that you procure your own set of tools; we recommend Highland Hardware: http://www.highlandwoodworking.com/narex-chisel-set-4.aspx
It is also strongly recommended that you pick up a copy of "Woodworking Basics" by Peter Korn, it makes an excellent reference to the material covered in the course.
Ticket Sales end two days before the event begins. Please be prepared to supply an contact phone number in case of last-minute scheduling changes.
