This is not a professional landscape design class. This is an unintimidating discussion of basic garden design tenets and how to apply them in real life. This class is geared toward the home gardener who wants to tackle a good bit of landscaping on her own but is overwhelmed by conflicting internet advice and baffling design rules.
We’ll help you sort through the information clutter and provide some solid stepping stones to get you started on the creative path to rewarding and enjoyable garden planning.
Instructor: Garden*Hood’s Kacey Cloues. Not until she was an adult did Kacey realize there was even such a field as “garden design.” Up to then the only gardening she knew was the astoundingly breathtaking perennial beds created by her paternal grandmother, andthe edible gardens planted by her mother and maternal grandfather. She learned gardening as an expression of joy and reverence punctuated by sweat, lots of hard work and sometimes tears, frustration and disappointment, and a deep sense of wonder and awe. And that’s the the goal of this Landscaping 101 class: to rekindle the creative spirit of gardening that – bounded gently by basic guidelines – rewards uniqueness and personality over adherence to strict rules and expectations.
