Leather Working: Moccasins

Join our friends at MASS Collective for this great intro to leather working. Each student will learn leather working skills from Sarah Green of CORD shoes by patterning and stitching a pair of shearling slippers. Each pair will be made of 100% shearling wool, super warm and soft, with a thin leather midsole and a rubber sole, for indoor use or light outdoor wear.

This course will cover the following topics:

  • Measuring and tracing feet
  • Lasts, and basic shoemaking equipment
  • Cutting thicker/ soling leather
  • Basic fitting
  • Awling and Handsewing soles
  • Sanding, burnishing and waxing edges

The Hand Stitched Wallet course is a prerequisite to this course, both courses are a prerequisite to take the bootmaking course.
