The “ancestor of all fermented drinks,” mead is the stuff of Viking legend – and for good reason! Join an award-winning meadmaker to learn about the basics of making this heady honey brew with traditional and medicinal herbs and spices. A brief history of this storied beverage will be covered before exploring the basics steps of meadmaking. Also, join in, hands-on, as you create a quart of your very own mead to take home.

About the Instructor: 
Mike Lorey is an Atlanta-based creative professional and fermentation fanatic. Mead is his speciality with a focus on local seasonal ingredients and medicinal herbs. He also made the first batch of mead at Montaluce Winery in Dahlonega, which won a double gold medal at the 2011 International Eastern Wine Competition.
