Are you dreaming of building your own tiny house, but don't know where to start? Or have you thought about it, but you're not sure if a tiny house is for you? In this two-hour class, we will look at the pros and cons of tiny house construction, consider different options in the design, and talk about each step of the build process. Some of the topics included will be: choosing a trailer, selecting the right materials to meet your goals, and the tools required for a successful build. The class will touch on every aspect building your own tiny house and include a tour of the CRASH Pad (the Compact Roaming Autonomous Sustainable Home) which was designed and built by Pace Academy students.
About the Instructor:
Scott Sargent studied architecture at Georgia Tech. Although carried off by a traveling theater troupe, his interest in architecture remains strong. He has been the Technical Director at the Pace Fine Arts Center for twenty years and has designed and built scenery for many Atlanta theaters. In addition to teaching Stagecraft, he has also taught classes in Architectural Drawing, Architectural Design, and Sustainability. He is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Residential Sustainable Design from the Boston Architectural College.
