The best way to stay healthy is to heed that clever old Hippocrates’s suggestion about food being your medicine and vice versa. But with all the dietary trends out there, it can be hard to know what’s best for your health.
Get a wonderful overview of traditional diets as well as the various ways different health systems across the world have approached food. From Core Foundation Diets (e.g. Mediterranean Diet) to the Traditional Chinese Medicine approach to nutrition therapy, you’ll learn about the energetics of foods and how to tailor what you eat to what your body needs – not the latest fad.
We’ll have some fun in the kitchen as well as enjoy tastings as we work. Go home knowing the basics of fermentation, broths, recipes to promote healing and more. (Please contact us in advance if you have specific food sensitivities.)
About the Instructor:
Cara-Lee spent most of her childhood wandering the wild outdoors of Southern Africa. An Exercise Science graduate, she later went on to study at the Botanologos School of Herbal Studies. She is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree in Nutrition and Integrative Health; a specialized course in integrative and functional medicine nutrition therapy. Cara strives to build relationships with local farmers, and engage community interest in natural healing. As an avid wildcrafter, herbalist, nutrition educator, and personal wellness cook; Cara remains passionate about reviving traditional recipes and enabling others to learn more about food as medicine.
